Doha, 14 May, 2017: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), in cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), recently organized a training program for HMC dentists to prepare to take the Membership of the College’s Faculty of Dentistry (MFD). Through the program, a group of HMC clinical associates successfully completed the requirement to be enrolled in the MFD Postgraduate Dental Education Program.
The program, which is being offered at HMC for the second time, is part of an agreement between HMC and RCSI that was developed with the aim of offering specialized dentistry training to Qataris interested in furthering their education and advancing their dental qualifications. The program is the first of its kind in the Middle East region.
Dr. Khalifa Al Ansari, Senior Consultant and Vice Chairman Education and Program Director, Hamad Dental Center, said: "Twenty dental practitioners from HMC and the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) participated in this five-day training program. The aim of the program is to perfect the knowledge of HMC dentists in all aspects of dentistry. The program aims to prepare staff for the educational curricula required to pass the admittance test for Membership with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), the next intake of which is scheduled to be held at HMC next October.”
“The dentists who joined last year's qualifying program have achieved high scores in the MFD. Some of them have gone on to join a specialized Pediatric Dentistry Fellowship Program offered in cooperation with the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland,” added Dr. Al Ansari.
Dr. Al Ansari noted that the internationally accredited fellowship program in pediatric dentistry offered by the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland provides Qatari dentists with the opportunity to continue their postgraduate education in Qatar, without the requirement to travel abroad. He added that the program offers staff the opportunity to attain accreditation from a prestigious international institution.
The internationally accredited RCSI HMC MFD Postgraduate Dental Education Program supports Qatar’s National Oral Health Strategy. Hamad Dental Center strives to provide comprehensive, globally accepted, best practice care, founded on its holistic perspective of delivering safe, quality services and proven treatments for all patients.
